Increasing employee satisfaction

We are proud of the almost 300 employees who show commitment and dedication to making Grenfell a great place to study, live and work. The skills and duties of our employees are diverse, ranging from snowplough operators to research faculty, lab instructors to costume designers and student affairs officers to accountants.

Employees feel a great deal of pride in working for the university
The majority of employees feel a great deal of pride in working for the university; they look forward to coming to work; the perception that they can make an impact on the student experience is very strong. However, recognizing that every institution can make improvements, several initiatives have been implemented to increase employee satisfaction.

The lines of communication are remaining open through the establishment of the Campus Council, a monthly forum for all faculty and staff to encourage information sharing and collaboration.

Annual employee satisfaction surveys are taking place to provide employees the chance to share their joys, and their frustrations, with our place of work. The results of these surveys are important in establishing priorities for the institution.

We recently revised our Respectful Workplace Policy, instituted a part-time Sexual Harassment position on campus and are seeking to offer professional development opportunities to our staff.

Building morale and creating a family environment amongst staff happens in many ways. We host an annual employee and family fun day that includes a barbecue, carnival style games and live music. In December, we share a meal together to kick off the holidays. We also seek other opportunities to bring our campus family together in camaraderie and sharing.
